This past weekend, Joe and I visited Massanutten for a family get together and Joe's birthday. We had a great time! After getting home, I got cracking on my first cake for Wilton's Course 3 class. After a month long [forced] break from Wilton classes, I was ready to learn about rolled fondant and tiered cakes. This week I created a 'Fondant Package Cake'. I would consider my first experience with fondant a complete success!
How did you meet your current, or most recent, significant other?
The story below was constructed during many phone conversations were I (Sarah) begged my boyfriend (Joe) to tell me the story of how we met. The story was later written down and then mailed to Sarah by Joe so that he would no longer have to spend cell phone minutes meeting the demands of a childish Sarah. It was written in late 2004. Enjoy.
Once upon a time, there was a girl; the most beautiful girl ever to live. Her name was Sarah. She had the cutest face ever bestowed upon a woman (the rest of her body was pretty spectacular too). One day she got a job working at a movie theater. There she met a boy, a rather average looking boy. His name was Joe, and he was kind of an asshole sometimes. He and Sarah didn't spend much time together there. They were both hard workers and most of there coworkers were lazy slackers. They were usually too busy to get to know one another there. However they both had a crush on one another since the first day they met!
One day, Sarah managed to ask Joe to go with her to prom. Joe had never had a girlfriend, let alone gone on a date. He was so nervous, this gorgeous woman was asking him out and in public no less. He mistakenly thought she was kidding and he said NO! What an asshole! But Sarah wasn't discouraged. Then, on New Years Eve, Joe heard that Sarah was going to be at a party with some of their coworkers, so he decided to go. He hoped that they might get to know one another a little better. But when he got there, Sarah was with her friend Jen, and there was a guy hitting on here. Joe didn't want to impose, so he left soon after. Then that summer, Sarah ran into Joe at the theater. She gave him her phone number and asked him to call sometime in the following week while she was at camp. Joe was excitied, never had such a thing happened to him, a beautiful woman asked HIM to call! He was so nervous and eventually decided not to call. What a loser, huh? Again, Sarah didn't give up hope on him. Joe felt bad about not calling and he was uncomfortable calling her on the phone. So he asked a coworker of theirs for her screenname and began talking to her online. Slowly but surely, they began talking more and more and more. Joe was excited to have such a wonderful person so interested in talking to him. He would come home and find cute smily faces left for him from Sarah.
Then around Thanksgiving, Sarah made one final attempt to get together with Joe. She called him and asked him to hang out. Sot they went for a long romantic walk on the beach. Then Joe had the confidence to ask Sarah to go see a crappy movie with him, and she did... Twice! And then, on a magical Thanksgiving night, Joe escaped his family's celebration to go see Sarah. Together they watched Christmas movies at Sarah's friends apartment. That was weird 'cus it was Thanksgiving, not Christmas. But since there are no Thanksgiving movies, it worked out alright. Then they left and went for another walk on the beach. They sat on the sand and watched the waves on that cold November night. Finally, Joe got up the courage to give Sarah a kiss. It was his first kiss ever, and it was wonderful... for him at least. Sarah was not too impressed for she was an amazing kisser. Joe needed quite a bit of practice. Sarah let him practice over the next few days. They practiced a lot and eventually he got better. Sadly, the two of them had to spend a month apart. Joe was even forced to miss his wonderful girlfriend's birthday. He tried to make up for it by sending her roses, but it just wasn't the same. The two got to see a lot of each other that winter. But they were soon seperated. Sarah was abducted by an evil cult known as Americorps*NCCC. They made her spend ten arduous months far from her loving boyfriend. They forced her to burn prairies and tear down buildings. For one week over the summer, Sarah managed to escape and go on vacation with Joe to Myrtle Beach. Then Americorps snatched her back up and hid her a thousand miles away from him! Finally they threw a party for Sarah when they were going to release her, but Joe didn't make it because he was a lazy jerk. However, once they were reunited, Sarah found it in her loving heart to forgive him.
They made each other happy. Together they moved to the land of Richmond, and began their new life. It would be a long life filled with happiness because the two were a perfect match for one another. Joe made Sarah less sad and Sarah made Joe less of a jerk. They lived together happily ever after...
